hello dears,

i need to set a Caller ID on outbound rule level, if it's not doable, what are available options ?

the caller ID that will be assigned is a short number we already have (9200xxxxxxx)

Very much doable. Just ensure that the Caller ID you define is in compliance with the format that the Provider requires, otherwise they can either reject the call, modify the caller ID or send the call as anonymous.

thanks for your response.

i checked with our provider and they enabled us to use virtual number ( 9200xxxxx ) as an outbound caller ID regardless of which DID is assigned for any user

i wasn't asked to do above image, but when i try to call, dialer closes.

i tried many steps including assigning the virtual number to myself, SIP level and call handling group, all closes the dialer

if didn't do any of these steps, the caller ID is the main trunk number

please help

Theres not much that can be done from the PBX side. You could see if the PBX is pushing the caller ID from a wireshark, but if the provider is rejecting it, it is ultimately up to the provider, as is the case with all Caller ID issues.

I agree with @NicholasP_3CX. Assuming you configured your outbound rule with a valid phone number, and your call is using the rule you think it is, 3CX will simply use the number you have specified. You should check the activity log for any errors, but my guess is that your carrier is rejecting the call. You can call your carrier and ask them to monitor your call attempt. If they see the call arrive on their end, they can tell you why they are rejecting the call.

hi there,

service was added by our provider, when i try to dial an external number, dial pad shuts if i assigned our unified number to my extension in the outbound caller ID. if i keep it blank, the outbound caller ID shows as our trunk number
is there any configuration from 3CX to be done ?

Check your event log to see if any errors are being generated.

Do note that any Caller ID discrepancies, like incorrect number format, unallowed numbers etc might be rejected by the provider.

Your event log should be the first point of call to see what the error message is.
