Outbound Rule for local calls

Hi 3CX Team

I am having issues setting up outbound rules for local calls.

We use Twilio, and we can reach local outbound by entering the full number, such as

(South Africa)

Mobile:
+27 82 355 5555 (the local way of dialling is 082 354 4369)
How do we enter a rule where we can dial 082 354 4369 from the 3xc console
Local landline
+27 11 209 1111 (local way of dialling is 011 209 1111)
How do we enter a rule where we can dial 011 209 1111

However, for both examples above, there are many variations, for example

Mobile
078 111 1111
072 111 1111
084 111 1111
etc

Landline
021 111 1111
055 111 1111
etc

It's essentially +27 country code area code (011, 021, 082, 076, 083 etc etc) and then 7 digits. But when we dial in full international format, we drop the 0 before the area code +27 11 111 1111

You want to be able to dial local numbers without the +27, yet your provider requires that, or you want to dial numbers using the full +27xxxxxxxxx number?

Select country: Pretty straight forward. Select the country you are in so the system knows your country code. For our examples lets use US as our country.

Remove if same country: When this option is selected and you try calling the same country using the E164 format the country code will be removed from the called number.
Example: Number dialed as +12345678910 will be converted to 2345678910.

International Dial Code: If you call a different country using the E164 format then the number will be converted and the international dial code will be added. If you are in the...

Hi Leejor

We have enabled E164 as mentioned and attached and selected South Africa, but we can't make outbound calls unless we put in the full +27 and area code without the 0 and then the number

We want to be able to call local numbers without the +27... and we need to call international numbers, but then using the full international dialing string in that case

If all local calls are using the same trunk, and begin with a zero (or even 011), and are the same length, then one rule should suffice. Just specify all 3 parameters.
The order of the outbound rules is important as the list is read from top to bottom. It may be that a call is using another rule before it reaches the one you want it to use.

3CX E164 settings are meant to deal with numbers with a leading +. It will substitute the correct numeric prefix depending on the type of call. This is usually used to handle numbers stored in a phone in the international format. If you are not using a leading +, then the outbound rules must match the digits you are dialing. Use the 3CX Activity Log for clues as to what is happening to failing calls.
