Good Day,
migrating a set on companies from old mitel/sip to 3cx with 15 DIDs (line button) in the same office, with 10 exmployes.

Only solution so far I found is to prepend a 1 or 2 digit number to select the line, so 1+phone number for outgoing DID 1, 2+phone number for DID 2, 3+phone number...

Any better idea to simulate the "line button" as BLF are not allowed to be used as line?

Is there any way for selected user to use a default DID and skip the outgoing rule? As there are many companies with same employee, it happens some users only use a single DID out and some users maybe 10 DIDs, just want to avoid that single DID user to prepend all the time the 1 or 2 in front of the phone number. Might be to set a rule on some extension to always prepend a digit and the the outbound rule will remove it?

Thanks

M

What you want are outbound rules to present a certain caller ID, as you are not actually selecting a DID to dial out on, assuming all DIDs originate from the same trunk group (and assuming these are VoIP DIDs and not PSTN).
.
You can make that choice by the extension placing the call. Assuming a set has four extensions...201, 202,203 and 204. and you have certain DIDs routed to each. If you want extension 201 to always preset the same caller ID as the DID number it receives calls on, then there are two ways of doing that. Set the outbound caller ID in the extension settings, so that any outbound call will show the DID, or create an outbound rule that applies to extension 201 only, that has the caller ID set in the rule.

You would use the latter method if there were other extensions that also had to send the same caller ID.

This does mean creating an outbound rule specific to each extension, or including a group of extensions

Thanks. I think I'm going for the second one.

Yes it's a single sip trunk bringing in multiple sim calls and allowing all caller ID out (around 50 caller id). So in 3cx sip trunk I only have one.

I have around 20 users, 10 of them are going to make calls only from one caller ID, so I can set their extension as outbound rule to use that ID, this will force and avoid them to use other ID.

The remaining 10 users will need to preset the ID by using a double digit before to select the ID, like 01 for ID1, 02 for ID2 and so on.

Is there any way to avoid putting the 0 in front of 1-9 if I have more than 9 lines? So 9 instead of 09? All local number are having a 0 as first number (without country code) and if we call abroad it will start with 00. I should be able to filter out 1 digit if it is not starting with 0 and 2 digit if is not starting with 0... suggestion?

Thanks

If you simply want an access code, you don't have to use zero at all. 9 is the most common outside access code, so expanding on that... 91, 92, 93... then if that runs out 81, 82, 83...

As long as it does not conflict with a number on the PBX, and you strip it in the outbound rules, you can use any number you want.

Just remember to place any new rules you create above the previously used "default" rule so they will match first.
