Recently rolled out a v20 3CX cloud hosted PBX. Customer is asking if we can prevent paging from initiating the page on user's 3CX mobile app and only page the physical Yealink handsets. Is this possible?

Hi @straight1

Softphones like the mobile app or the WebClient cannot be paged.

What about intercoms? I'm getting reports that users' mobile apps are ringing when they get an intercom.

I may not have explained this correctly.

What I'm asking is, how do we stop end user's softphones from receiving a page? We are using Yealink T54W phones.

I get this same thing, when I do a group page, that's not multicast, my mobile apps shows an incoming call, but quickly goes away.

You might want to try the multicast paging

I've read that multicast paging doesn't work with a 3CX hosted server.

Yeah it only works with phones within the same subnet of a self-hosted 3CX server. The TTL is also set so it won't propagate through routers either unless you do some packet mangling (eg. to use PIM-SM or similar to broadcast across subnets).

For a hosted service, the only supported way forward I can think of might be to get one of the supported paging adapters (PA1 / PA2 / cyberdata) and set it up to use multicast to some overhead SIP speakers that are setup to listen for a multicast group? Means that your phones won't be used to broadcast the page though...
