Hello,

I have a scenario where I have a DID "DID1" configured to an extension "EXT1". I also have another DID "DID2" which have been forwarded to "DID1" which lands on the configured extension "EXT1".
Can I play a prompt just to the callers to DID2

3cx doesnt have any connection to DID2
DID 1 is where the call lands for both DIDs in 3cx. I need to play a prompt on 3cx for calls which are made to DID2 which lands on DID1. and all calls to DID1 should land as normal which is EXT1

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean that the forwarding from DID 2 to DID1 is happening before the call even reaches 3CX? For instance, it's happening on the SIP Provider's end?

If yes, then there's no way to achieve this within 3CX as the PBX is completely unaware that this is happening. 3CX will need a way to distinguish between these two types of calls first. Can you not add DID2 as a new DID on 3CX instead?

Provided the above is possible, what exactly do you mean by "Can I play a prompt just to the callers to DID2". Do you want a caller that dialed DID2 to listen to a prompt before the call is forwarded to the desired extension? If yes, and what was described above is possible, you can have calls to DID2 first routed to an IVR that plays the prompt and then routes to the destination extension after the timeout.

Please clarify and correct me if you feel I have misunderstood the situation.

But cant we find the calls redirected from DID2 with some conditions applied in the inbound rule for DID1 and play the prompt..

Thanks in advance

The Inbound Rule will match calls based on the dialed number which is essentially the DID. If the dialed number starts off being the DID2 number but then gets replaced with the DID1 number before the call even reaches 3CX, then 3CX has no way of distinguishing that call from one made directly to DID1.

Is this indeed what is happening? Is the dialed DID2 number being replaced with the DID1 number on the SIP Provider level?

yes.... forward is configured on SIP provider level...

thanks

In that case there's is no way to do it with a DID rule. Only thing I can think of is if you could somehow prepend something very specific to the Caller ID of those calls, you could maybe use a CID rule to match and route them differently.
