We are considering switching to 3CX from a Mitel PBX and phone system. I really would prefer not to have to purchase all new phones. I have worked with a vendor where I am, and they have supplied me with a test PBX to play with. I was able to get my Mitel 5212, 5224 and 5320e all connected and registered, but when I call those phones from the iOS app, the call drops right away. If I call from one Mitel phone to another Mitel phone the call goes through just fine. If I call from a Mitel phone to the iOS app, it woks no problem also. I have tried all the audio codec settings and couldn't find any that would work (I did find some that wouldn't ever work). I am currently running 3CX 18.0 (Build 314). Please let me know if you have any ideas or things for me to try. Thanks!

Hi Nate,

You might have trouble with unsupported phones. It could be possible to make the work fully, but you would have to do all your own testing/tweaking/troubleshooting to interop the phones against 3CX. And there is no guarantee they will end up being compatible.

At the end of the day a decision needs to be made between the cost of time sunk into making incompatible phones work with no guarantee they ever will, versus getting supported phones that are already interop tested with 3CX, still receive firmware and template upgrades, and allow you to access 3CX Support in case you ever need to contact support.

Selling the Mitels and getting used Yealinks for example might be a better option in case buying new phones is not possible.

3CX also provides mobile / desktop / web client applications that in many cases can replace phones entirely.

Just sell the Mitel phones and use the apps or buy some Yealinks or Fanvils.

Don't mess with unsupported hardware for a business.

Does the same thing happen when calling from an Android phone App, or 3CX Windows app? Have you compared a working and non-working call in the 3CX Activity Log, to see the difference, and a reason for the call dropping? May require the log be set to Verbose.
