Hello

Just wondering if 3cx has any way of protecting from spam callers who uses legitimate caller IDs

Thank you

It' so difficult to detect them now, some of the dialers and number spoofing techniques used are very hard to detect.

One example - they will use a local area code to call to you as people are more likely to answer a call for their local area.

Yeah, and in some cases those could be harmful, for example they can swarm all channels

Not only have they been using a local areacode, but the same prefix, as the called number as well. I also know a few people who have had their numbers spoofed and now receive calls, from annoyed people, asking why they are constantly calling.

When you can't screen by using caller ID, you have to get the caller to perform a task that a robot can't,(or at least, have a great deal of difficulty doing), in the same way many web sites weed out computers. Unfortunately, at this point you are limited to using DTMF.

It's going to become a lot more difficult, with the increasing use of AI, in the not too distant future. Do a search for Google Duplex.

If the callers are using legitimate caller IDs then it is very hard to block these calls from reaching the system. I would agree with leejor that you need to have the callers go through a digital receptionist or a CFD app before reaching an actual agent.

Not that I am endorsing this sort of thing, but if you are interested in how this is done and/or want to help your customers spam people themselves (for example in a call center environment) some of the development partners do outbound caller ID spoofing Apps and robo-diallers: https://www.3cx.com/call-center/crm-integration/
