PSTN TO VOIP GATEWAY Dial Tone ... Forwards to extention?!?

Hi, I have recently got a Linksys SPA-3102 with the intent to use it as a pstn to voip gateway for my family in the uk to dial through pstn > voip then to china where my dad works. Now i have gone through the tutorial on the 3cx page and i have a dial tone when i call my local pstn number, however, whatever number i dial it just forwards me to extension 100 (my computer) instead of the number i want it to dial to, so for example if i call a mobile phone i would:

Call PSTN Number, SPA3102 picks up, dial tone, Dial number, calls on extension 100! instead of intended number

I have setup an outgoing rule in 3cx to forward calls incoming from 10001 (spa-3102) to go through my voip provider but still no joy.

I have also setup (as per instructions) a Dial Plan on the linksys (S0:<10001>) but when its enabled it doesnt even give a dial tone, just shoots right through to 100 extension

if i call from extension 100 (my pc) 07970 etc etc it will come up on my 3cx logs as calling [email protected] (3cx) and dials my mobile fine

but if i do it via my pstn its also says 10001 dialing [email protected] but then rings on 100:

I feel im very close, but either a dialplan on the linksys or a rule on the 3cx may be off, PLEASE HELP!

This bit has me confused. Are you saying you want incoming PSTN calls (incoming from BT on the PSTN line of your 3102) to go via 3cx and then out to your VoIP provider? So all PSTN incoming calls go out again to VoIP?


The talk of dial tones also confuses me - where are these coming from? Is it a secondary dial tone generated by the 3102 or do you have the 3102 set to answer incoming calls so you can enter a PIN and onward dial via VoIP? Also do you have Line 1 enabled on the 3102 (so you can plug in an ordinary phone) - if so you need to use separate port numbers for the 2 sections [PSTN/Line 1] of the 3102 as well as in 3cx.

The 3cx/3102 combo is very versatile, so really I think we need more info on yr configs etc.

Cjay, yes I would like the SPA-3102 to take pstn calls on the local BT number and forward through 3cx and onto the voip provider configured there, or whever.

As for the dial tone, when i call the spa 3102 it dials answers and gives a dial tone ready. then i can dial the number i want.. i have gone through the tutorial on 3cx to achieve this and it seems to be right. The only issue is even though on the logs its saying its trying to call the number i put in at the last stage @mydomain it is then just saying extension 100 ringing.

As for line1 i have disabled line1 because i dont really need it right now and i wanted to keep the config fresh so i could slowly build up the features i wanted but still able to know where i am and what ive changed.

Hi Kaista,
What you are describing could probably be achieved with just the 3102 with no need for 3cx. Whilst I have not explored the full feature set of the 3102, it looks to me as if you could get it to answer, present second dial tone, accept PIN (for security) and then accept more digits to route call out to a VoIP provider registered within the 3102 - all this without requiring 3cx.

My gut feel is that trying to combine this level of functionality with 3cx as well is going to end in tears! I use 3cx to provide the brains of my system and just use 3102 purely as an ATA - but I would not be able to onward dial as you describe.

Is what you have described really what you really want to do? Why do you want to route incoming PSTN call via 3102 & 3cx and out to VoIP? If you are originating your calls from an IP phone (at home) then the configuration is much easier and secure!

However if you really want the 3102 to do these tricks then Linksys themselves have FAQ and technical support forums which you could look at.

Thanks for your input CJay, I would like my local 3102 to run through my 3cx so I can control my whole telephone system from one place, and use only the one outgoing voip account/number etc, basically like to keep things simple, even if the intial work is hard. But what im going to do is take your advice and just setup the 3102 on its own to save many hairs from being lost from my head
