Hello,

I am inquiring what the recommended update, upgrade steps for hardening the buster OS.

I know the updates for 3CX happen within the message alert in the web console for admins. What about the lower level underpinning OS Buster.

Reason I ask. I recently installed a small system on a raspberry Pi 4 in which there was a update with-in the raspi-config, as well when doing sudo apt update and apt upgrade. The apt upgrade has many upgrades to the buster OS for many things. Which I did have them all installed.

What’s is/are the standards or recommend upgrade practises of the OS? There is nothing really set in stone in any documentation on the do’s and don’ts

Look forward to the feedback which could help others as well and a suggestion to 3CX staffto put that in the notes of the documentation.

Thanks

Hi!

The recommendation is to enable the "Automatic update 3CX" option under updates as this also installs OS updates that have been tested with each version of our software you use:

This automatically means that 3CX updates will be installed automatically as well.

This is our recommendation.

From there on, yes, you could install updates by yourself, but we cannot guarantee how the 3CX software will behave with newer versions of the packages you install without updating 3CX too.
