Hi all,

really simple, basic task that I can't find a simple answer to so far, if anyone can help please.

Yealink T42 --> SBC --> Online 3CX Server 18.0 Update 6 (Build 908).

T42 phone is currently provisioned for extension 102.

I've created a new extension 110.

I want the T42 to stop being used for ext 102 and instead be used for 110.

How does one achieve this please?

Thanks for any assistance.

Hello,

You need to provision it from scratch, you cannot simply move it from one to another without the following:

1. First you upgrade the firmware to the latest version you will find here (very important!)
2. Then you factory reset the Yealink to remove the previous account and setting (also very important)
3. Now delete the phone from your extension in the management console and press ok.

The phone is now ready to be assigned to the next user using our guide:

Hi John,

thank you for your reply.

Seems like a convoluted process for a simple task (not in any way blaming 3CX; I guess it's probably more to do with the features, or lack thereof, that the phones offer).

I will give that a go.

Thank you.

Yeah, there is no way to tell the phone "hey forget everything and use these details instead" so it needs to be done like so.

There is an alternative called Hot Desking, but this is not meant for the occasional account move.
It's a method to log in and log out of extensions on an IP Phone, call center style.

Let us know how it goes when done!

Note Yealinks can be factory reset from their web GUI. Handy if you are not on site. Just copy the web GUI password before deleting the phone… :-D

Thanks for the help, I've been able to get the phone provisioned (I think a key also was getting confused by the instructions in the link posted by John, because I was logging into the "3cx system Management console", rather than the new webclient admin console, and of course the instructions aren't relevant for the old console).

I was able to follow John's link, and get the phone set up, thank you.

The link only seemed to have instructions for doing the setup when you are physically in front of the phone, and I wanted to be able to do it remotely.

So I basically followed the steps from the article, except when I would physically type the extension and password into the phone, I browsed to the phone IP (it is a SIP-T42G), went to Settings > Auto-Provision, and put in
- User Name (as the extension number)
- Password (as the password provided in the 3cx admin webclient)
- Server URL (as the URL located in the admin webclient > "Provisioning Link"
Then I pressed confirm and then "Auto Provision Now" and it seemed to provision correctly.

Is this the correct process please?
Should I add more or less than Username, password and server URL?

Thank you.

If the phone came up, you should now be good to go!

It now received the provisioning URL from 3CX so it will always stay provisioned on your system!
