I tried searching and can't seem to find, so apologies if this has been covered.

Our on premise 3cx machine got infected with ransomware the other day. It was on a VM and the host and all VM's got encrypted. I have config backups that I was running daily to Google drive, but I don't have a backup of the whole VM. THerefore, I can't start it and deactivate.

For expediency, I want to move 3cx to the the cloud and used our Azure account to setup a VM there and then PBX express to set it up.

It came up fine but when I try to restore from my backup, I get the server error when trying to log on to the 3cx admin portal. If I reboot the VM, I can login but the restore doesn't seem to have done anything.

When I do PBX express, do i need to make the FQDN match?

Any other gotcha's?

THanks,

DaveW

If your backup method used the option checkbox for license and fqdn then you need to use the same license and fqdn or restore might not work.

Hello @Dave Whitworth

I am guessing that you are using the same licence key to install the Azure instance so the same FQDN will be used. If however you installed the instance with a different licence and therefore a different FQDN and you try to restore a backup containing a different licence and backup then the restore will fail.
