Hello!

We have a problem. If a call answered by ext 201 the next call in will not ring 201 again so one of my staff must put the current call on hold and run over to the other phone.

So before I posted I did some research and made changes to our extensions to show same callgroup = 1 and pickupgroup = 1 on all lines. this did not change anything...

Then I looked at the *8xxx or **8xxx functions. *8201 is an invalid number and does nothing and **8201 gives me this error:

I have BFL set up on my phones and it looks like this:
and it works great but it defaults to *8201 and as I noted it does nothing.

I must be missing something. I thank you once again in advance.

Climato,

You are on the right track

In your feature codes, you should have *8

The idea is that has soon as 201 has hung up the phone, they should be able to press

*8# (basically a triangle of key presses).

This will pickup the call ringing on the other phones (but they must all be set with same callgroup = 1 and pickupgroup = 1 in the Extension setup in Elastix)

Test this functionality first....As I suspect that your phones may be interfering with the key combination e.g. * codes intercepted by the phone or dialplan causing an issue.

If you can tell me the phone type you are using, this will help a lot.

I a making an assumption however you are using Linksys or Cisco SPA5xx phones and you have not removed the * commands on the phone....

Once we have got general pickup working then we can look at directed pickup if you still need it...

Anyhow provide the further info needed and we should be able to get you sorted.

Regards

Bob

Bob,

I do In fact have the Cisco SPA508g phones. I have cleared out the regional *xx codes out of each phone and have successfully verifed that the *8# option works :) .

However my staff made a good point to me. Why dose the second call not ring though to the the phone? I have an extra spot on the SPA registered for a "second" line. At my other job we use the Cisco 7XXX phones and when im on the line or a call is on hold the phone can ring in a second caller that I can put on hold and return to the first.

then after that is there a way to set my bfl buttons to answer a line?

Thanks!

Great that it works for you....good guess on the phone types....

Ok I know what you mean about the other lines.

On Ext 2, it should be set to enabled, but no other details filled in. This way it just becomes another line for 201. When you are on a call, line 2 should be flashing red (e.g. showing another call coming in) as you decribed with the 7XXX phones...

Can you check this

Also are you using SPA500S consoles with your phones??

After we get through the issue with line 2 flashing, will then provide you with the BLF codes....I normally use on SPA500S console but will test on SPA5XX phone with no console.

Regards

Bob

The phone still does not ring the "second" line i must of missed something. I attached a screen shot to see if I'm setting it right.

https://dyp.im/SHotZsJVkC

We do not use the console. In my screen shot has some of my BFL code. It works great for status but not for picking up or breaking in.

Thanks again.
