Hi

Here is configuration:
3CX up to date on a server on internet.
SBC at customer site
one V62 and one i62 connected at 3CX through the SBC.

All is working fine when internet is up. If internet is going down i62 can't work anymore (it's supposed to call the V62). Isn't it SBC is supposed to handle local calls so long internet is down ? as we can't afford to get main door ring not working if internet is down :(

Thanks for clarification,

Vincèn

Good question and good use case.

But no, in this case calls are not working, sorry about that. Internet has to be working for calls to be established

Call data does not go via the internet using the SBC but initial call setup has to be done by 3Cx in the cloud.

maybe the intercom can have some backup in case of call failure. But in these cases i think you will have to go to open the door "manually"

Have you tought of getting a second internet connection as backup? Like an LTE one? This way you always have a connection and your use-case would be perfect for this as you only need a small internet access to do calls.

Thanks for clarification Nick but then the only advantage of SBC is to run voice locally but all management is still done via 3CX ? Does it mean also that calls between regular phones in the LAN (not a door phone) will suffer same drawback: not working if internet is down ?

Unhappy it's not an acceptable solution in our use case :( so I guess only solution is to run 3CX locally but then if Internet is down phones lines will be completely unreachable (not even a voicemail to indicate lines are unavalaible...)

We have already a second internet connection as backup but it's totally not acceptable to get a door phone not working due to an internet issue and totally dependant of it :(

Yes, if you have a hosted system and your internet is down you will not have calls via the deskphones. The apps will continue to work using 4G/5G of course. Not sure how you don't understand this but maybe get a reseller to explain it to you?

If you have a second internet connection, then you should be good to go.

However, you will be able to configure your Fanvil doorphone to reach the IP of an internal Phone to solve the issue to have the door phone working no matter if the main line is down.

When we sell the phone system to eg. hotels, we always base the placement of the 3CX server, depending if the Room Calls are more important than the booking calls. If the Local call is the most important, we sell a locally placed 3CX, if the booking is the most important, we sell a Hosted 3CX Server.

Thanks for clarification as I had read different stories about SBC use here so now I fully understand how it works ;)

Thanks for explanation of your use cases and similar here so I'll go with on premise 3CX as it's lot more important to get local calls working than outside ones (all the more as we won't have any external mobile phones (using 3cx mobile app !).
