Every time I need to reboot my internet modem, or if my internet goes out for a brief time, I keep needing to reboot that machine that is running the SBC or the phones have no connection. The machine where the SBC is hosted on still works and is connected to the internet as I can surf web pages. And everything else runs fine when the internet comes back up. But I have to keep rebooting that machine for the SBC to work again. Is this a feature of SBC that if there is a lost of internet for a few seconds the SBC goes down. I don’t understand why it keeps doing that

Are you using latest SBC, I'm sure that was resolved a while ago ???

Yup. I’ve even uninstalled and reinstalled it. And still having the same issue

How often does your internet go down ? you should also look at trying to improve this issue.

This could be because after a restart the SBC service does not start as the network is not ready. Try setting the network boot at delayed start and see if that solves your issue.

Well lately my internet has been going down quiet a bit. There are times the modem reboots on its own, it looses authentication, or the line goes out for a few seconds. I’ve had the phone company out several times, they replaced the modem, they changed my line to a different pole, they have done other stuff and still can’t determine why it’s not a steady connection. But it’s a pain in the neck that I have to reboot the machine where the SBC is hosted due to its location. But the after the internet comes back up it is connected to the internet I can surf and run other programs. And it looks like that the SBC is running. But none of the phones can make any or receive any calls. The phones so registered and when a outgoing call is made its a fast busy and an error on the phone. I reboot the machine and the. Everything works again.

It was mentioned try a network boot at a delayed start. How do I do that.

Presuming you are using a windows machine - access the Services page and change the Startup Type from Automatic to Automatic (Delayed Start)

Yes windows. And how do I access the services page

How would changing this solve the issue that when the internet goes down briefly the SBC doesn’t come back up and I have to reboot the computer that the SBC is on

If you used Delayed Start it means that the selected service will start shortly after all other services designated as Automatic have been started. This can be upto 1-2 minutes after.

When a computer/server boots up there is a mad rush for each application to get resources.

For example if you have 20 services all being started at the same time, each will start up slower as it competes with the others, what will happen if you set delayed start is the SBC service will wait for the "rush" and then start - ensuring it starts and does not get interfered with during the boot up process by the other programs.

Your other option is to beef up your server so it has enough resources to deal with this.

I’ll try it, but I done think it will solve the issue. As I stated before when my internet for what ever reason goes down and then comes back up. I have to reboot the machine that hosts the SBC. What’s interesting is if the internet goes down and then comes back up all the phones connecting through the SBC still show connected. However when making a call I get a fast busy with an error on the screen. Reboot the machine that has SBC and phones can make calls. And it’s doing this each and every time the internet goes down

That’s lenix and I’m not familiar with the lenix language.

When this happens, are you able to open Web pages specifically from SBC's host machine?
If not, this is an OS' issue.

If yes, try restarting 3CXSBC service first without rebooting the entire machine.
Will this help? If not, then it's environment issue, not SBC's.
If yes, we're facing a possible bug.

Regarding phones still showing as "connected". There's a registration timeout and only after it elapsed, the phones will try to reregister and discover they are not connected any more.

The problem you describe with the intermittent internet connection is sometimes caused by the presence of a "bot" sending data out from your connection. The traffic overwhelms the outbound side of the connection - which is usually much smaller than than the inbound. In response, the gateway device will reset the connection. So, you might consider a virus scan on your local computers.

Yes I’m able I am able to open web pages and surf But how can the SBC be restarted without rebooting the entire machine???

You goto into services (services.msc) on the windows machine, find 3CX SBC highlight it and click restart

Note : not sure of the name within services, will probably start with 3CX

Well that didn’t work either. I even went to download the SBC from the 3cx website on to another computer to see if maybe if was the something with the computer, OS, or what ever and that didn’t solve the issue. Same thing. Has to reboot the entire machine and didn’t keep the connection after the internet went down

Does the machine running the SBC have a static IP, or use DHCP? I'm wondering if that makes a difference.

It’s DHCP. But I have a DHCP Reservation. I’ve tried that too changing to static. Till same issue
