Hi All,

Using free version of 3CX PBX at Home, working fine for six months. Backup notification (successful) Email every day.
Few days ago message about "planned upgrades" Not sure it mentions applicable to free home installs?

Email INFO
We will begin the upgrades week commencing 25th July 2022 and these will be performed over the below period:
  • Monday 25th - Thursday 28th 20:00 - 03:00
  • Monday 1st -Thursday 4th 20:00 - 03:00
  • Monday 8th and Tuesday 11th 20:00 - 03:00

Assumed as they don't have my Pi login that, this didn't / does not apply to home installs?

However I do get all minor upgrades so not 100% sure if previous point is incorrect, i.e. without full rights how do they do minor upgrades (never questioned this before)

Version I have, presumed up to date as of today Thursday 28th July 2022 at 15:30 UK time (BST)

Today 28th backup Email didn't arrive (by 1530 ish) but on Management Console...

I have not investigate the backup settings or various logs as yet, thought better to post this first before getting engrossed in fault finding.

Pi has plenty of capacity so not lack of resources, backup is saved locally.

CPU, 1% normally
Disk 13% used 25 GB free
Memory 16% used 3.1 GB free

So, Do the upgrades apply to home (free licence) installs?

If so more info needed as to what if anything I need to do?

Regards Burt

Are you sure the email is not for a cloud instance? Maybe that you set up initially?

Upgrades are available for all installs, and automatic upgrades are the default.

However, Update 3 was not supported on Pi (see https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v18-update-3-final/). So I'm afraid neither 3 or 4 will apply to you. Can you reinstall in a VM and restore from backup?

All,

Before anyone detects my major mistake :) The 3CX headed Email I received was from Gradwell (trunk provider)

Quote...

We would also like to ask that if you are the administrator for your 3CX system, please do not perform the upgrade yourself
Totally confusing as it implies users could do the upgrade? i.e. refers to "YOUR 3CX system.

Exactly that and a Gradwell hosted 3CX system. It appears I should not have received the Email, GW looking into this. The Email assumes the recipient has a GW hosted 3CX system but does not say as such.

Backups, no Email received.
Poked around and found the list of ZIP files one of which was for 28th so no Email is odd.
Ran a test backup, Email received.
I will see what happens tomorrow.

From the list of backups it seems that the PBX only keeps a weeks worth, plus any other run manually.

Effectively no problems and I assume that this serious sounding upgrade will be done on my free PBX by 3CX ?

Regards

As above all upgrades are free for all active licenses, however there are no upgrades for Pi installs of 3CX server...at least for a while.
