Hi, we have lots of clients who only use hardware phones and not soft phones. They have call recording turned on for each extension.

With GDPR in mind (and general data protection) they would like to program a button on the phones (mainly snom and yealink) to stop call recording. In the past we would have used a dial code /shortcode (eg *11*) and programmed that to a button, but we cannot find a dial code.

Does anyone know if a code exists for this?

Thanks

Hi Ojit,

As standard you have 2 options for call recording with 3CX.

* Record all calls from the extension on 3CX - this will record every call regardless.
* Toggle on/off on the soft-phone.

I don't this would be possible with 3CX (if you are using "record all calls" off of the extension on 3CX) as its default behavior is to record everything.

My suggestion would be contacting this third party integration partner who provide a call recording App for PCI compliance recording and see if they have a solution: http://www.insperix.com/

If anyone else has any other ideas I would be just as keen to hear them.

Thanks for the reply, I'll look at the third party solution.

I would be staggered if this is not possible, I would argue that a large percentage of companies now record all calls by default, how do they go about not recording credit card details for example.

I understand that you can do it via the soft phone, but most of our clients run thin clients therefore no soft phone available.

If you can do it via soft phone there is a toggle somewhere to turn it off/on.....

There is not shortcut keys to stop / start recordings on a deskphone, option only available in 3CX client and 3CX webclient

You could use the webclient or a 3CX client for windows in CTI with the phones to achieve the desired functionality

To add to the post from YiannisH_3CX, this is the toggle on/off option I mentioned earlier. If you place a call on the soft client you will see you have the option to record on/off.

If the soft client is in CTI mode (in conjunction with the deskphone) you could achieve this. However it depends on your environment and if your customer wants the users to have client access.

You certainly can turn recording on / off using the Call Control API. In theory you could create a CFD application that toggles the recording state, but this requires you make a phone call. I don't think this will work in your case because if you press the button it will interrupt the current active call. If you have thoughts about how to get around that problem, we can build a CFD to do the task.
