Hey,

I'm new to this whole 3cx/voip system. I have 3cx set up and working off a twilio elastic sip trunk. It all works but I frequently get extremely degraded service with it. We are using Android based soft phones which shows a signal strength meter. When the meter bar drops we get the lowered quality. I am unable to find a description of what the meter is showing? Is it showing a poor connection between my 3cx server and the voip service or is it showing a poor connection between the softphones and the server? In office I am on the same network as my server. Server is on a VM on an otherwise lonely box. Maybe if someone could let me know what the little meter is showing then I can go from there. Thanks for all the support this community offers!

Are you talking about the phone signal strength bars that are there whether or not 3CX is installed? If so, and the signal strength decreases, and you are using 3CX over your mobile providers data network, then, yes, call quality may suffer if you do not have a good signal. Same applies to a Wifi signal.

No. I am asking about the signal bars above the 'line 1, line 2, etc.' bar mid way up the right side of the 3cx client while in a call.

Probably the Call Quality Indicator added in version 15.5.159.

Hello @devren bennett

That is indeed the call quality indicator. The client collects different data while the call is active to indicate the call quality.

Thanks for the information folks. I am running 3cx on a local install (3cx debian build) along with Twilio. I am using softphones (apple and android.) When the quality indicator is green the calls all work great. They frequently drop to orange (2bar) and red(1 bar) during calls. When this happens calls are worthless or they just drop. The server is running in a VM but i am not currently running anything else on that machine and have pretty healthy resources available to the VM. I have a small 1gb network in my shop with a 250mb internet connection that has good throughput and low ping rates. I am running an ERL router with updated firmware and Ubiquiti's phone services shut off. The system obviously knows the service is degrading but I'm just not sure as to where to start looking to find out where the problem is. Suggestions?
