Snom 862 and LLDP

I got a new phone today.

We have an on premise system and our network has a voice VLAN. Its setup with the switch broadcasting the Voice VLAN to the phones with LLDP. In 3CX at the bottom of the phone provisioning page we nominate the voice VLAN to match what is happening in the switch. Although the switch is new the existing D315/345 phones are working fine.

If I setup the 862 in the same way the phone boots, gets a DHCP address from the voice network and registers. After a short while I get on the display;

Ethernet cable unplugged

Then;

No network Policy
LLDP fallback to VLAN reset

The phone reboots.

If I make the switchport an access port on the voice VLAN and disable LLDP its stable

Any ideas?

Hi,

We will provision the phone with what you select in 3CX but as to how it works will depend on the device and the network. You might have to contact Snom with this specific issue, so please open a case with them and provide them with any logs they need to investigate.

Why not do it this way to begin with? If you have this ability it's a much better solution and you don't have to rely on the phone's firmware doing all VLAN work.

Some organizations assign policies to switchports that change VLANs and QoS settings to improve performance and security. There is a policy based automation where the configuration of the port is changed based on the LLDP packets received from the connecting device.

I would appreciate it if you can bring this to the attention of Snom.

We can bring it to their attention if course, but we still highly recommend you open a case with them.

Without your direct feedback, they may not be able to understand what causes the issue, and will not be able to provide the solution.

Looking into this a litte further it appears if Policy Based Automation is turned on in the switch the phone boots and registers then after a short while shows on the display

Interestingly the switch settings for the voice VLAN are;

VLAN 100
Priority 6
DSCP 46
