Hello, we have a self hosted 3cx server, updated to the latest V18 build
90% of our phones are snom D120, all updated to latest firmware 10.1.54.24
in the last 2-3 month users are reporting random reboot of this model of phone D120,
other models are snom D385 and fanvil V62 : this are not affected from random reboot

i read in this post that could be an issue due to lack of memory of the D120 combined with 3cx V18 new features
https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/snom-d120-with-3cx-v18.116927/

actualy we upgraded from V16 in march 2022 , reporting of random reboots started only 2-3 month ago so seems
only latest patch have impacted on our environment

currently we cant change phones or downgrade 3cx server version
so i would know is there is any setting at phone level or 3cx server level
to mitigate this issue

thanks in advance
Roberto

Hi Roberto,

I believe that this is the final firmware for this model.
As far as I'm aware Snom will not be releasing any further updates, citing the limited hardware resources this device has (SAP-5309)

I'm aware this firmware wont probably receive update

I was hoping for some sort of workaound or mitigation

for example we noticed that if we reset telephone to factory setting it stop to random reboot for some time
but then after some time of usage restart to happen

is there any option to schedule a reboot and/or a reset of the phone via the 3cx console?

I'm afraid not, reboots can only be done manually in 3CX. If you use a central PoE switch, I've noticed some of them have scheduled PoE off/on options so in that case you could program it to do it in the evening on a Sunday for example.

You might want to raise it with Snom support, but my guess is that the phone automatically restarts itself if and when it runs out of resources, as a sort of last resort self-recovery mechanism. There is also a chance the size of the phonebook may affect the phone resources since they are quite limited on this model.

thanks for hint
we used cisco switch with poe, I already used scripting to schedule action on ports
will try this way and see if it help
