Hello all,

We noticed that our IP phones SNOM D735 is working better using SIP TCP instead SIP UDP trough our SD-WAN infrastructure.

I'm able to switch to SIP TCP using custom template but I prefer use the original template in order to have 3CX support...

Do ou know how I can enable SIP using TCP on my IP phones without creating custom template ?

Regards,

3CX already supports both TCP/UDP 5060 for SIP traffic. https://www.3cx.com/docs/ports/

When you say working better, what are the issues you're facing with UDP? You should probably run a packet capture and see what's causing the issues instead of just switching to TCP. UDP is generally preferred protocol for VoIP because of its lower overhead compared to a TCP packet.

Hello,

My question is : Do you know how I can enable SIP using TCP on my IP phones without creating custom template ?

It's not to troubleshoot the issue using UDP. I've already done it.
Our remote sites (70) are linked to our datacenter using SD-WAN.
Our SD-WAN is composed with 2 or 3 WAN links.
The problem with SIP using UDP is that UDP session on port 5060 never expire.
Once the UDP session is established on a WAN link, if this WAN link goes down, our SD-WAN gateway doesn't switch the session to the second WAN link because the UDP session never expire....
Using SIP with TCP, the session expires. So our SD-WAN gateway switch the session to the second WAN link once the TCP session is expired.

That's why I want to use SIP with TCP and not UDP, but the default templates for SNOM only use UDP.

Unfortunately, at this point there is no way to do this without creating custom templates as far as I know.

There was a thread a while ago with that feature request. Maybe post it on ideas forum (https://www.3cx.com/community/forums/3cx-ideas/index.php) and see if 3CX team would accommodate that in their features if there's enough demand. It should be something simple enough to implement on their end.

Hi,

Your case appears to have specific needs, so a custom template was the way to go.

3CX does not provision that part, so there is no way to change it at the moment.
