After version update on 3CX Server and Snom IP Phones, a fault happens where an ip phone loses registration on 3CX and then the ip phone cannot be connected to using a webbrowser.
If you do a factory reset, the IP phone becomes visible in 3CX/Phones but it cannot be reprovisioned.IP phone is 10.1.73.16 and 3CX is 16.0.8.9
So far we have 5 phones that have this fault out of 80 running on this site

Any ideas Guys?

Hi @Herbie,

Do you still have IP addresses available on your network? From what you've mentioned it appears the phones aren't accessible via the WebUI, so that makes me think it is more of a network issue than a 3CX one.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply, the phone UI does not work even when I connect the snom directly to a pc using a patch cord.It can ping but cannot open the phoneUI

Now the problem is that all the snom phones have lost registration from the 3CX and all phones are going to blacklist because of repeated attempts to login
It appears that the problem that was affecting a few phones is now affecting all the phones

Hi @Herbie,

Let's remove the PBX from the equation. On the phone itself, can you check if it's got an IP allocated after rebooting it?

What model Snom is it?

yes, after rebooting you can see its IP address, you can ping but cannot connect with a webbrowser

When you navigate to the IP are you connecting over https or http?

What model Snom is it?

its a snom D315, I used http and also tried https, both unable to connect

Hi @Herbie,

This seems to be a network error you'd need to troubleshoot. If the IP address is assigned but you're unable to access the UI, and the phones aren't able to be registered, it points towards a network issue.

Hello Vasilis,
I am 100% confident its not a network issue:
The fault only started happening after update to 10.1.73.16
The affected phone is not able to register on its 3cx
I use https to open the phoneUI
Its got something to do with the phone fw 10.1.73.16,It cannot be a hardware issue taking into consideration that we have many such occurences
I guess its something to do with the security certificate for the phone or something like this

Hi Herbie,

I checked what you found, it's unrelated to your issue & it also applies to a much older firmware so I would not take that into consideration.

- You can ping the phone: this only proves that the phone can be pinged, it does not imply that everything else will work (ie. an IP conflict would still get you ping replies, but not necessarily from the phone). You cannot be 100% confident about the network, just from pinging alone - you need more evidence.

- You said earlier that you cannot connect to the phone's web interface, even though you factory reset it. This might indicate that either the phone has an issue, or it is a combination of your pc+network+phone that does not allow you to connect. This is something you will have to troubleshoot yourself, as we cannot look into your network for you

With all the information you gave us so far, the very least I can conclude is that the phone cannot be reached, and hence it's reasonable to expect that the phone cannot reach the PBX either. The reason remains unknown at this moment, so do not be quick to dismiss things such as the network, the most vital part of this chain.

What can you do?

1. Port Check: You said you have 80 phones and most of them work except 5. Unplug one that works, and in its place put one that doesn't work. See if it suddenly becomes accessible and provisionable once you use the LAN port and cable of the one that works.

2. Reverse Port Check: Do the reverse of the above test: Put the good phone in the port and cable of one that has the problem, and see if it also develops this issue. Do it even if test 1. has failed - don't skip this

3. Network Health Check: can it supply enough PoE power? Are your network/VLAN settings OK? are there enough free IPs in the pool? Did you try restarting the switch and firewall just for good measure? Was there any recent changes by you or colleagues on any network cabling, equipment settings, rules or firmware? All these details may help your investigation, even if they seem like small details.

4. Phone Health Check: Take a problematic phone outside of your network, and try connecting it there (at home for example). Can you access the web interface when you have the phone at another location? If yes - then you can be very certain that the phone is healthy

I hope this small guide is useful to you, go ahead and try these things out and let us know what you find at each of these 4 steps.
