I installed the phone template update for my Snom phones and now all phones show that the firmware is not supported.

The system says it is up to date. Is there a newer firmware my system isn't seeing?

EDIT: Sending a reprovision doesn't make any difference.

Please disregard. I am updating firmware now.

I probably should stop trying to think for the night and get some rest. ;)

Yes,
It's confusing to have the correct firmware in red in the web interface.
I falled for the same situation last time I tried to update some phones, now, I know I just need to wait patiently :D

I suppose it's because what is written is the firmware's version desired and the color correspond to the firmware version actually on the phone (or just maybe because the database of 3CX didn't refresh its information yet :^) ?

New firmware was released yesterday, the PBX downloaded the firmware and made the phones appear in red to inform the admin that the firmware is now out of date.

Selecting the phones and clicking the Firmware button will reveal the new version for you, and then you can choose to deploy it. Once deployed, all snom phones will eventually detect it and upgrade themselves.

I'd like to add that I think the method of making the admin aware of new firmware is horribly misleading. There is a big difference between 'unsupported phones' and 'supported phones running deprecated firmware, but which can be updated to supported firmware'. The message on the Dashboard and in the Phones display would lead the admin to believe that the devices were EOL:
You are using Unsupported phones or phones with custom templates which may cause issues.
For a list of supported IP Phones visit this page.
Not Supported 10.1.54.16
Since we're only talking about simple text, it would be terribly easy to provide more accurate information, such as:
You have phones with firmware updates available. Please go to the Phones page to review and install these updates. To verify that the firmware is the version currently supported by 3CX, please visit this page.
Update! 10.1.64.17
See?

Hi David,

We always appreciate the feedback! The reasoning was originally that since the old firmware is no longer supported by the manufacturer, the "Not Supported" message would be shown. Especially true if the phone had issues discovered, the solution will always be to move to the latest firmware that includes a fix.

By the way, the EOL phones were never shown as unsupported on our platform, we have a page documenting which devices are EOL here and they are still supported by 3CX, it's just that the manufacturer no longer produces firmware for them so going forward their limitations will eventually catch up with them.

Hope this makes things more clear! :)

Oh, I understand, and I thank you for clarifying the rationale of the existing messages. I have always understood what was implied, but it would be far better to have that information clear as day and right before administrators' eyes—not tucked away in a forum or on a web page. It would make us more productive—as well as appreciative of the consideration and finesse 3CX would be putting into its product.

What threw me off is I thought it said the update was for the template but I must have overlooked and it was a firmware update.

As always thanks for everyone's help. I had a real brain fog last night:p
