I'm using 3CX Version 20.0 Update 6 (Build 724 Release) and the 3CX app version 5.2 (Build 22) on Android devices. I am not using the Multi Tenant option.

We have multiple Departments. I need each member of any particular Department to be able to see the other members of the same Department in the Team view. In order to do this, I have to uncheck the 'Hide User' box in Options for each of the users in that Department. However, those users now also appear in the Contacts view on the Android app which makes them visible to members of other Departments.

Is there a way to make a user appear in the Team view for a specific Department but NOT appear in Contacts for members of other Departments?

You may need to enable the multi tenant feature for this, otherwise these users are in the global phonebook and the hide feature will hide completely the user in the phonebook but also for the presence in the department...

Will the multi tenant feature definitely fix this? I thought the multi tenant feature didn't yet support multiple phonebooks.

the thing with multitenant is that you will not have a global phonebook, since each unit is isolated. For the units you just have personal contacts, phonebook per department is not implemented yet.

You may enable the switch, set each department as unit with different extension ranges and then test it.

Hi @RobColver ,

Did you try disabling the "Publish department information to all extensions" in the Department options? This might get you what you want, if I have understood the question correctly.

Hi Experts,

We would like to confirm that is there any limitation of users per department we can have for this multi tenant feature enabled?

Hi @ACL, there is no hard limit on the number of users/extensions per department in the self-hosted or on-premise Multi-Tenant, so you should be fine!

Hi,

Although there is no real limit, once a Tenant's size starts growing, you might want to consider if they would be better served by having their own PBX set-up.
Multi Company mode is "meant" to cover the needs of smaller companies, without the need of many SCs, multiple departments of their own and so on.
