we have 2 locations with overhead paging/intercom systems. Both use speakers in the ceiling tiles. One location has a valcom v9970 that we were able to disconnect the existing phone line and plug in an ata(with voip extension), and it works flawlessly.

the second location has a philips m100 s-16 intercom. that system is not as intuitive, and we can find no technical documentation on how to tie in to that intercom with an ata. does anyone have experience with a philips m100? All I can verify is that when you unplug line1, it quits working, but when you plug the ata's line in to the line 1 port, the intercom doesn't pick up...

If the device (philips m100 s-16), was previously connected to a phone line, and worked. Then I'm thinking that the line voltage (perhaps), and more likely, the ring voltage/cadence/frequency, is not what the device expects.

Many ATA's allow you to adjust these parameters. You may need to get out a volt meter, to see what your "old" phone line is outputting. You are usually looking at about 48 volts DC (on hook) voltage, except in the case of some PBX's which can supply 24 VDC. Ringing is usually about 90 volts AC, between 20 and 30 hertz. Be sure that cadence (ring on/off time) is close to what you had on the old line.

These can vary greatly depending on the county you live in, and a lot of ATA's have North American defaults requiring some "adjustments" when used elsewhere.

Also, be sure that the line cord you are using, is connecting the proper pins, at each end.
