Upgrade 15.5 to 16 with custom domain name and certificate

15.5 to 16 on Windows OS requires uninstall of 3CX, reinstall, and restore database. I read some postings where folks had trouble with the restore to v16 because they were not prompted for the certificate files or the files they had didn't work. I have done restores v16 to v16 with custom domain name/cert but was never prompted to add the cert during the setup process -- it just restored along with the database. Can I expect the restore of a 15.5 database to a new 16 server to work differently, prompting me for files? Can I expect to have trouble with the process?

I did 25 upgrades in the last two weeks with out any issues- I do use the import via dos prompt not the web GUI as I recall last year having in issue restoing via the web GUI..

Good to know. Do you get prompted for certificate files during the restore from 15.5 to 16? Or are they restored automatically from the backup?

They were automatic (full restore) - it does regenerate but on "its" own.

Thanks. This contradicts what support told me, but since you've done it 25 times...
For anyone reading this, it is still important to have your certificate files backed up before uninstalling in case you need them for some reason, but based on the above response if all goes well they will not be necessary.

My appoligies, I missed your keyword "custom" - I have done 2 but a draw a blank on the process. In general 3cx handles custom certificates as files. If your are using the exact same FQDN simply placing your "backed up" \Bin\Cert folder and restarting the services should do it.

I did have one system that I had to do a complete reboot (which in reality doesnt make sense) in order for it to recognize the files.

I find it interesting that towards the bottom of the xml file in the root of the backup zip file there is a bunch of certificate related information. I wonder if that is some kind of backup of the certificates.
