Hey Team,

I may have asked this before but I'm old and forgetfull so bare with me please.

Using Elastix 2.0.4.2 with CFS.

I have a DynamicDNS name with dyndns.org (paid for), have it pointed to my Static IP address. Router has all ports required forwarded. My issue is that I can do the following:

from a computer on the net I can enter

http://mywebsite.dyndns.org and I am taken directly to my web server without problem
or
https://mywebsite.dyndns.org and I am taken directly to my Elastic login GUI.

For some reason when using any softphone, wifi phone app or VoIp phone outside my network and enter in the "Domain Information" as either https://mywebsite.dyndns.org, or, I use mywebsite.dyndns.org (without the https) none of my phones will register. I have entered the required info within CFS under the "lfd DynamicDNS" and still no register of phones. Inside my network using just mywebsite.dyndns.org it all works great.

Can someone give me ideas on what to look for? Or maybe the proper way to set my box up for this use? I had no problems with this working under prior version of Elastix but for some reason when I moved to 2.04 I have not been able to make it work. I'm sure it is something simple that I have just over looked.

Thanks

Hi Amphibian

Do you have the Dyndns updater installed on you other appliances ?

You would need this to keep the ip updated.

Another option is to use OpenVpn for remote units, I run Pfsense with OpenVpn configured and this works fantastic.
I have a few remote Yealink phones using this method. Pfsense has the export utility in it for yealink phones, so this makes it easy.

Sir DaveD,

Yes sir I do have the updater running even though I have a static IP assigned.

I had thought about installing the OpenVpn & PFsense but couldn't find a manual on the install and setup of it so I set that idea off to the side untill I could find one.

Thank you,

If I understood correctly you have a static public IP address and have a dyndns name pointing to that public IP address.
What happens if you use the IP address instead of the dyndns name when trying to connect with your phones.

Can you describe your network setup in more detail?
The public IP address terminates on a router, and on the inside that same router is the default gateway of the elastix server?

Like this:? Internet <->Router public interface<->Router inside interface<->Elastix
What kind of router is it? What ports have you forwarded?

morph123,

Using my phones with the static Ip address programmed into them works fine as long as I add the Ip address of where the phones are into CFS first. That is the idea of using dyndns.org was to prevent having to put the location Ip in before I could use the softphone from a cafe some where.

Since dyndns.org does not require the updater anymore, and I paid for the service, and my web browser dooesn't have issues getting to my server throught dyndns.org I figured I might be doing something wrong on the server as to why the sofphones (and other phones) are not signing on.

Thank you sir,

Hi Amphibian,

I'm not sure I understand your explanation. The dyndns address is the address of your server right? If yes then how does this have something to do with the Ip address of where the phones are?

Regarding pfsense openvpn here is a nice guide you can follow. If you need help with setting up openvpn on pfsense I can help you out.

morph123,

Thank you sir. I have it working now without problems. I had to enter the sip ports within the "UDP Ports In" section of CFS. All works well as should be.

Thank you,
