Users vs Extensions

New to 3CX here...

We are looking at a 3CX installation for a medical practice. It appears to me that each 3CX extension needs to be associated with a person.

How does this work when multiple people use the same extensions?

i.e. Different doctors use the consulting rooms and various reception staff use the reception phones?

In 3CX a user and extension are the same object.
If it is a shared phone, the way I'd tackle that is "Consult RM1" "Consult RM2" etc... You wouldn't configure the actual user to exist in the traditional sense.
