Hey guys, I am using snom d717 in classrooms to page. I have a cyberdata paging server doing the multicast but when I add the multicast address to the phones it does not save any info as well as turns off the multicast. Any help would be appreciated

Manual configuration on IP Phones provisioned via 3CX is, in most cases, overwritten by the configuration provided by 3CX.

If all you want to do is send an announcement to all D717 devices via multicast, then you could just use a Paging Group instead and omit doing it via the cyberdata paging server.

Alternatively, if this is not possible due to the phones and 3CX Server not being in the same multicast group, what you could do is create a multicast paging group in 3CX, set the multicast IP:port you want the phones to listen on, then in the Extension Settings, set the phone to listen to this multicast group:

Then when you reprovision the device it should pick up these settings.
From this point then, the phone should listen on this multicast IP: Port, so even of the Cyberdata sends RTP there, it should auto-answer.

A few notes:
  • This management console option appears only if the provisioning method is Local LAN
  • You will need to create a separate MCast group in 3CX for each different MCast IP: Port being used
