Greetings,

I have a user with a personal outbound caller ID setup under USER / Outbound Caller ID
I have SIP Trunk (Flowroute) / Outbound Parameters /
- From: Display Name setup to OUTBOUND CallerID Taken from Extension
- From: User Part setup to OUTBOUND CallerID Taken from Extension

Whenever this user (or any user with private outbound DID) call out, it always show up the main DID number.
I looked at the tcpdump traces, and in the SIP traces I see that the FROM field shows the main DID number rather than the one selected above (CallerID Taken from Extension)

INVITE sip:[email protected] SIP/2.0
Contact: <sip:MAIN_DID@xxxxxx>
To: <sip:[email protected]>
From: "MAIN_DID"<sip:[email protected]>;tag=177aef75

I tried to go in SIP / Caller ID / Configure Outbound Caller ID <- Remove or Change this one, and it still show the main trunk number when I call out.
I'm not even bothering contacting the carrier yet, because for now the issue is on the 3CX Side as I can see in the SIP FROM packet.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Found the issue.
Under outbound rules / outbound calls rule, there is an OUTBOUND DID which apparently override everything.
It would be nice if the documentation was updated between all the CALLER ID options (see below) and explain which one supersedes which one.

- SIP Trunk / Outbound caller ID
- Outbound rules / Outbound caller ID
- User / Outbound caller ID

Cheers!

Hi @saint__,

Please find the relevant guide that explains how the Phone System will handle the priority of the Outbound Caller ID.

First it checks the Outbound Rules, then the extension settings and last the SIP Trunk configuration.

hi @GeorgeP_3CX
I found the page you are referring to, but nowhere it explains that if a caller ID under OutboundRules/OutboundCallerID is setup, then it will override the Trunk / OutboundParameter / From field.. Can the doc be updated with this info at least? Thank you

Hi @saint__,

The guide in question, explains where the OutboundCallerID parameter will look for a value and in which order, for the structure of the Invite that the Phone System will send.

If an Outbound Caller ID is configured in the outbound rule, then the Phone System will not move to the next location, which is the extension settings.

Hi @GeorgeP_3CX
"The highest priority" means that it will look at Outbound caller ID in outbound rules first.
I understand this part. But it does not mean that if the Outbound Caller ID in TRUNK is setup to USER Caller ID, then it will take over.

I would understand this if SIP TRUNK / Outbound Parameters / FROM (User Part || Host Part) <- was setup to DEFAULT or ID Taken from Outbound Caller ID Setting.

In my case, it is setup to "Taken from Extension settings". The documentation should explain that regardless of the FROM setting in the Trunk Outbound Options, this variable (Outbound Rules / Outbound caller ID) will override all settings (including if the trunk outbound parameter is setup to take the info FROM the user).. That's confusing. Thank you !
