I have 3cx v18 running on a Windows Server 2019 VM. I know there's no in place upgrade and you have to backup, uninstall, reinstall, and restore the backup. I was wondering if it was possible to do the upgrade on a clone of the VM that's not connected to the network, confirm it took the restore, then shut down the original VM and connect the clone to the network. That would allow me to ditch the clone if anything blows up and minimize downtime to just a couple minutes if everything works.

Does the installation require an internet connection? And will the services come up if I don't have one? That's the only part that I'm concerned about.

We're also using the default 5000 and 5001 HTTP and HTTPS ports with our current install. I'd like to change the HTTPS port to 443 during install. I can confirm that all of our phones autoprovision links are HTTP and port 5000. If I enter 5000 for the HTTP and 443 for the HTTPS ports during install, it seems like the phones should all provision. Is there anything else that could break by going from 5001 to 443 on the HTTPS port?

Yes, to check, activate and upgrade your 3CX license to v20.

no

Remember: there is currently no way back to a v18.

Remember: if a 3CX FQDN is used, don't try too much or this will happen to you.

If the new HTTPS port 443 is correctly forwarded to 3CX, then it will work. The rest depends on the installation. The HTTPS port is stored and used in a number of other places (every web / pwa client and smartphone app).

Thanks for the info. I guess there's no option but to trust that everything will just work and roll the dice. That's not my preferred upgrade method, but I'll give it a shot.
