Hey Team,

Is there a manual or some kind of documentation that one can get for monitoring a sip channel to determine why a video sip call is not working or why it pixelates during a call? I believe the later is from band width but still is there a set way to test?

I have one gosh awful windows 8.1 laptop machine (only kept for testing purposes or it would be in the trash) running Zopier Softphone, two Andriod Phones with both Zoiper & Voip by Antisip Softphones, a Nortel Turkey Video Viop Desk Phone and it is a major pain to get video of any quality to work between them. The Andriod phones work well between them when using the Voip by Antisip but none of them work worth a crap with the other Softphones or OS's.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around how to better the use of video over sip and at the same time understand how the video and sip work together so when I develop a softphone app built around Elastix I can feel like I know what I'm doing....at my age though that may still be difficult....

Thanks,

amphibian

At first you need have a good QoS.
Next, this is not an issue from SIP but RTP/RTSP.
The SIP protocole existes only for opening any sessions.

Next, i think if you have any Wifi devices under Andriod or else, You could have many problems.
At first, try to configure you Wifi with WPA2 TKIP + AES
This is better for the VoIP on Wifi.
But i don't say that the video could work fine with Wifi !!!

The video takes too many bandwidth, so....

Be careful at the Wifi channel too.You may take the same channel like your neighbor.
Apply the rules of Wifi channels. like this:

Sir Frank,

You once again are correct....

I got so wrapped up in the Sip & RTP that I forgot to think about the wifi portion of the total picture. Once I went back to my two-way radio days I remembered what you have mentioned here.

Thank again sir,
