Hello 3CX Team,
Can we use any any VPN on 3CX Version 20 Update 3 beta ? Our customer want to know about that. I just want to clarify it's possible or not . Thanks guys.

You should not install anything on the 3CX server, especially no VPN, DNS, or DHCP services.

I'll send you the link for the Windows installation guidelines, but the same instructions apply for Linux.

If you want a VPN, it needs to be set up at the router level, not on the 3CX server.

They already installed 3cx Version 20 Update 2 on linux . They want to use 3cx softphone with VPN, so can be possible ?

Softphone with a VPN?
Why? The Tunnel already secures connections with an authentication layer based on the tunnel password.

Either way, yes, they can, but they need to set up the VPN server on the router in front of the PBX, not directly on the PBX.

You can connect via VPN to the network the 3CX server is located, but please do NOT have the VPN endpoint on the server itself.

But the 3CX mobile application uses the tunnel which already encrypts the traffic so if it is solely for this reason, then you can safely use the Mobile app without a VPN, but connecting multiple sites together for phones etc, by all means!

I could see a scenario where you have someone working from home who needs access to internal resources at the office. That necessitates a VPN. So the question is whether the 3CX clients/phones will work over any VPN. In my experience, the answer is YES. But I also agree the VPN MUST be implemented on the edge routers rather than a software-based VPN running on the 3CX server.
