I have my system hosted on vultr and the sound on the calls is completely unusable. This is even between extensions so i assume it isnt my connection to my sip trunk who is an approved 3cx provider/partner.
I contacted vultr and they made some change but it is just as bad. Do i need to move my install somewhere else? Its a new install so not a terribly big deal.

Vultr has some network issues in some datacenters, we experienced a lot of this.

We recently moved everything to DigitalOcean (takes 5min per system) and we've seen great increase in call quality and overall stability.

Also, make sure you use instances of 2 cores/2GB RAM, otherwise you're running under the recommended specs.

I have about 60 ext. Very few blfs. Just some share parking What server and type should i buy ? I am not so familiar with digital ocean

We use the Premium AMD at 14$CAD(12$USD I think.) It has 2 cores and 2 GB.

60 extensions is not small, so definitely an upgrade would help you there. Perhaps upgrading the instance in Vultr could help as well if it's too small.

I can get a dedicated server at hivelocity for about 40
Don't think its the server since i have only 7 ext setup currently and quality is unusable.
Are you using the basic droplet with premium amd or general purpose droplet with amd premium?

Basic droplet. No need for dedicated CPUs.

What is the process of moving ? Just spin up and upload the backup ? and then modify or change my sbc ?

Create a full backup, then download it and shutdown the instance (don't delete yet.)

Then, spin up the new instance (DigitalOcean has the marketplace image for 3CX so it takes a few minutes to setup), open the wizard and restore the backup.

Once the new instance is confirmed running, destroy the old one.

I assume I need to create a new sbc tunnel with the new ip ?

Do they give a static ip ? I see something called a reserved ip but 3cx isnt seeing it

No need for "Reserved IP". The included IP is already static.

As for the SBC, it should reconnect once the 3CX DNS updates.

ok . it seems to be working . no more garbled sound . i am being told that its sounds like i am in a tunnel.
I cant reach the pbx at the fqdn itself . I need to add the :5001 port on the end. Firewall rules look fine and same as vultr

That would be during the setup, you needed to change those ports. By default it uses 5001 but you can change it usually to 443. That cannot be changed afterwards however, and you will need to reprovision the phones as well as the SBC since the port has changed.

Might be easier to scrap it, spin a new one and during setup, after uploading the backup, you will be asked for ports at a step. Change the 5001 to 443 and the 5000 to 80. This will get you the normal ports.
