Yesterday evening en this morning, we are experiencing issues with audio.
Some people (using Windows/Chrome) can't hear other people, people that dial-in (through phone) can be heard by some people and not by others, so it's all pretty random at the moment.

Is anyone else experiencing this currently as well?

Can you check the MCU during a problematic meeting and reply back here if you still have the issue?

Press the gear icon for settings, and check here:

Thanks a lot for your reply.
I will provide you with an example when I have one
I can tell you, that I had this issue this morning and I deleted the entire meeting and recreated it manually on another MCU and exactly the same happened with exactly the same two people.

Is it possible, somehow, that some people’s audio get encoded with some kind of different codec and one other computer cannot understand that codec?

For example:
All computers send their audio as WAV. For some reason, person 3’s computer sends it as MP3.
All computers can understand WAV and MP3, except for the computer of person 6. That computer does not understand MP3 and thus person 6 cannot hear person 3.
Reason I ask: people can leave and rejoin the meeting, reboot their computer, I can delete the entire meeting and recreate it on another MCU and every single time, person 6 cannot hear person 3 and everything else is fine.

Do note that it happens in many meetings or demo’s with different clients, so it’s not isolated but I’m also not convinced it is on your end, it might of course be fixable by you but that’s why I asked about the codecs.Because the audio is ‘out there’ it’s just one person (sometimes two or three) who cannot hear one other person.

Once the users are inside the meeting, they are using the same codecs so I would not worry about this.

We will look further into it if you can give me an example of course.

Thanks for your answer.
Yes, the codec story was just some logical reason that would fit all the facts.

it does seem we are not alone. Jitsi is very similar to Webmeeting in that it also uses Webrtc and users there have similar issues:

https://community.jitsi.org/t/reaso...ing-meet-jit-si-for-more-than-2-persons/27984

Still can’t reliably reproduce the issue however, I can’t ask the people I have had this with to try again at this time.

Thanks!

We cannot create the errors on demand but they happen no matter the mcu we are attached to. We are typically connected to Virginia but at times Quebec.
One other thing I would like to see is some type of management portal where I can see all meetings and connections that are going on for our pbx. Might help in spotting the issues.

Experiencing same behavior

We experience the exact behavior EVERY day since the past 4-5 months. I opened a ticket but starting to conduct wireshark's during every meeting is becoming tedious..We use the webmeeting a lot.

We mostly start having issues when someone mutes/unmutes themselves or when screensharing is activated sometimes 1 or 2 people will start not hearing everyone and need to reconnect.

We recently resolved 2 issues related to audio loss.
  • One would occur in some cases when disabling/enabling your webcam.
  • The other would occur when using the Safari browser on any device.
We are in the process of resolving one final issue where audio loss can occur if your media gets disconnected due to networking issues and reconnected automatically (Media Reconnecting message appears).

For information purposes, we all use Chrome (tried firefox to see if it happens and it does as well) sounds like WebRTC having a hard time keeping track or something regarding user's sound profiles.

I can give you as good report later this week, we have tons of meetings scheduled, i can let you know what we discover.

It would be good to know but only after our next silent MCU update to resolve the final audio loss issue. Please keep an eye out on status.3cx.net for the next update.
