For some reason, we forgot to backup the original welcome email. The welcome email no longer sends out the password. What is the variable used for this?

Thank you,
AC

What version of 3CX?

I'm pretty sure that v18 and definitely v20 (not production ready yet) do NOT send the password anymore. This is consider insecure.
But you can just click forgot password when you get the user to go to the webclient.

For example: https://yourcompany.3cx.com.au:5001/webclient (for version 18). It is also possible to have the phone system running on port 443 (Default HTTPS port). Then your link would be https://yourcompany.3cx.com.au/webclient.

This will send an email with a link to reset the password for that user.

Keep in mind that for this to work the 3CX user (extension) needs to have a valid email address.

That is correct, passwords are not included in the Welcome email.
The Forgot password will move you forward to generate new passwords.

Hey all, thanks for the quick responses! And makes sense. I must of missed this update. For v20, do you know when it will be available for GA. I am excited for the new features.

Keep up in our blog for any future releases. ;)

Hello,

User name does not work on V19Update9.
I hope it will on V20, because pasword recovery does not work if the email is linked to multiple extension.
Not a big problem because it not concerne most of the end user.

It is a pity that the welcome email is not change by the 3CX update...

Each ext has to have their own unique email address in v20 so this will be avoided.

There has to be a balance between ease-of-use and system security. Sending passwords in an email is no longer an acceptable industry practice. In this day and age, everyone should have their own email address. If you need an email accessible to multiple users, either use an email distribution list, or configure their mail client to connect to multiple accounts, but I can with reasonable certainty say that 3CX is not going to change the requirement that every user have their own email account. This has been a topic in the forums over and over. There are other workarounds for the every user has a unique password issue. See if one of those suggestions will work for you.
