I just upgraded a customer from 3cx V14 to v15.5SP4 and use an external monitoring system to review Windows event logs for issues. I have been monitoring a number of 3CX events as listed here:

https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/list-of-events-generated-by-3cx-phone-system/

However, it seems that since V15, events are not logged in the Windows (application) event log anymore. Is this function disabled somewhere or is there an issue? This was the only reasonable method available to integrate external monitoring for certain 3CX events.

Thanks-

Hello @positron

Please note that in the recent versions of the PBX these information are displayed internally in the PBX Event and Activity log. Only errors related to the OS are logged in the windows event log.

So, can you advise as to what mechanisms are available now for collecting and reporting information via an automated monitoring and management platform? The e-mail alert process is really designed for humans and makes the assumption that all configured alerts are treated equally and are processed by the same recipient. The advantage of the Windows Event Log entries was that granular controls could be implemented outside of 3CX to trigger against specific alerts with different actions as appropriate.

As an example, I monitored event ID 4099 which was logged when an emergency call was placed. This allowed for custom rules to be created to determine handling and routing of that event. As far as I know, the only mechanism available now is e-mail alerts, and even if e-mail was a suitable delivery mechanism, it is not possible to parse the emergency call message separately.

Is there another mechanism which can be accessed by an external process to monitor and collect information, such as emergency calls, trunk status changes, trunk failover, trunk errors, etc. which doesn't involve humans reading the logs via the admin console or e-mail delivery?

I am not aware of such a mechanism but someone else in the forum might have implemented something that could suit your needs. Perhaps they are willing to share.
