Greetings all,

I have challenge registering Yealink T41s remotely.
I setup stun and event log confirms a successful rps sent request but the phone is booting normally doesn't request username/password.
I'm following all the procedures step by step, I reset the phone, setup stun and reboot the phones then the phone boots and doesn't contact provisioning server.
I also tried setting up stun first, then resetting the phone still nothing happens, no registration prompt. We only received it once of which the phone did not successfuly register after entering the Auth ID and password. On subsequent retries the phone was booting to no server, no more registration prompt.

I also tried the sbc too still nothing happens.

Kindly advise what could be the problem ?

First off do bear in mind that we strongly recommend using the 3CX SBC instead of configuring via STUN. Using the 3CX SBC will negate the need for firewall configuration on the remote side, where the IP Phones reside, and will also allow you to use the PnP provisioning method for IP Phones that support it.

If you really must use STUN, first note that the Username and password the device requires upon reset is not the SIP Auth ID and Password but the Extension number and the Voicemail PIN of the extension to provision as mentioned in our guide. You, however, say that it does not ask you for the credentials anymore so I'd recommend trying to provision the device using the manual link provisioning method described here: https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/manually-provision-yealink/

If you're still unable to provision it please give us this info so that we can get a better idea of your setup: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/information-to-provide-when-requesting-help.67558/

Hi Chris,

Thank you so much for the help.
I followed your stun procedure and it worked.

For curiosity reasons, my SBC is hosted in the cloud with 3CX pbx, how will it be possible for plug and play to work for the phones on a LAN ?

Thanks
Nkosana

The SBC should be located at the same location as the phones and not in the cloud

Hey @Nkosiedread

Glad to hear you got it working!

You might have misunderstood which SBC I was talking about. When I said SBC I was referring to the 3CX SBC, you can find more about it here: https://www.3cx.com/docs/3cx-tunnel-session-border-controller/
As @Saqqara mentioned, it must be installed on the remote site where the IP Phones are.

Also, do consider going through our training material regarding configuration of remote extensions:
https://www.3cx.com/3cxacademy/videos/intermediate/configuring-remote-extensions/

All courses here: https://www.3cx.com/3cxacademy/

100 cleared... that's what I wanted to verify. Thank you so much for helping
