Hello,

Have a question the Yealink Guide says you need a router phone or SBC to connect to 3CX cloud, looking at purchasing some Yealink T46S phones, but can this phone be a router?

Thanks

No, for Yealink only the T5x series and the T4xU series have firmware that is capable of router phone.

There may be more models eventually coming from Yealink but the T4xS series is discontinued so its very unlikely to ever come to a discontinued model.

However you can get one compatible router phone and put 9x T46S phones at the same site that route through the router phone.

Thanks for the reply, so one T46U and 6 T46S should be good right?

Yes provided they are at one remote location it will work great. Setup the T46U first, make sure to update the firmware before stepping through the setup.

Is there a big price difference where you are for the two models, or are you getting the S models used?

Getting a good price for S models used but may just go with the U model for all phones.

Better idea to do all U for many reasons, like longer support timeframe and each phone can be a router phone (helps with redundancy) Little more money now, but will save money because you won't have to replace the phones as quick as you will with S series.

Hi,

I was looking at the current list of 3CX supported router phones here ( https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/ ) and it states that the T46S is a supported router phone which is contradictory to the posts above in this thread. Can anyone please clarify? Thanks.

the S cannot be a router phone.
