Hi All,

Some of our clients that were using their Yealink W56P phones with CTI mode enabled.
After the 15.5.6 update, this stopped working for a few clients.
I noticed that I after adding some of the phones like T26P to the CSTA_USER_AGENTS Params that it fixed the issue.
However, this is not the case with the Yealink W56P.
I have logged a fault with 3cx and they have come back saying that CTI is not supported??

So my question is what now?
1. Do I tell my client that for the past two years everything has been sweet and now the phones are no longer supported?
2. Is there a workaround?

Hi Paul,
I think your customers a bit mixed up.;)
The CTI and CSTA are two different features and using different protocols to "control" the phones.
CTI - the control is done using the HTTP protocol. It can be used from the 3cx windows client.
CSTA - the control is done using the SIP protocol. It can be used from the 3cx WEB client.

The CTI control was never supported for the DECT phones (Yealink W52P, W56P and W60B).
3cx never used the HTTP requests to control the handsets. This I can tell you with 100% sure.
Our customers were able to make the calls using the "Make Call" feature and it still there (connect 3cx windows client in CTI mode and dial the number).

About CSTA. Yes, in previous versions the CSTA was enabled for all Yealink devices (including the DECT phones), but I read some posts where some old models, that doesn't support the CSTA, were reacting to this feature incorrectly (continuously ringing, rebooting and etc...). I think, this is why in new version 3cx enabled the CSTA feature only for the models that can support it.
It looks like, it's not supported for the DECT phones and this is why they removed them too.

As you mentioned in your post, the changing of the CSTA_USER_AGENTS can enable it back for some models. If you will add the "Yealink SIP-W" string to that parameter and restart all services, you will enable the CSTA feature for all Yealink DECT phones.
But I think, due that it's not supported by DECT phones, even if you will enable them, they will not be 100% functional and will use again something like "Make Call".

Hello @Paul Fouche

As mentioned CTI for Dect phones was never supported and the closest you could get to controlling a Dect device was "Make Call" which did not provider full functionality.
You have haven't specified if your client is using the 3CX client for Windows or the Web client but if you are using the 3CX client for windows then nothing has changed in that regard and "Make Call" should still work. If you are using the Web client then you can try what @phonemaster or @CptLuxx suggested but please note that since Dect devices do not support CSTA you may face issues like the ones described above.
