We're running into a situation in where a client's 3CX Windows system has crashed and we are attempting to reinstall 3CX and upload a backup file. The problem is we're getting an error during restore due to fact that the system was running on Version 20, Update 7 RC1 (20.0.7.979) but the latest installer available on the 3CX Partner portal is 20.0.6.724. Error attached.

I'm not seeing any way to download 3CX 20.0.7.979 from the Partner Portal -- can anyone point me in the right direction to obtain this specific installer so that we can upload the backup file from the system that we have on hand?

Thanks.

Only final releases are available for download. What you have to do is build a new 3cx with the same fqdn and then upload to the release candidate version and then restore the backup.

Thanks for the tip -- this helped me make some progress. Now that the new system is fully updated to the same version as the backup file, I'm getting the following error when attempting a restore:

System.Exception: Licensing - backup contains a different license key than the one you used to install 3CX

For what it's worth, I do not have access to the old system to take a backup that does not include the license key, as it's no longer accessible. My understanding is only 3CX support can help at this point, so I've logged a ticket. If anyone has any ideas that will help me get this up and running faster, I'm all ears.

Thanks for your help!

You have to make a new pbx with the previous license and fqdn. Then you can restore it. You can’t use different.
