3cx date formats have been a thorn in my side for a while. I finally got around to looking into it after I forwarded a renewal email for one of my clients to them and they replied "Why are you asking me for this now, we have 10 months".... /facepalm.

actual message: Your license will expire on 10/01/2020 14:11:15 (-05:00).

Being in the US our human brains expect MM/DD/YY. I found a few forum posts on this subject. I am aware 16 is out and we intend on upgrading all clients that have valid maintenance as they send approvals to us to do the work, however this problem has more than once caused us to literally miss renewals due to confusion on the date format.

The calls inside the call log are correct as well as the event log and activity log.

The OS region settings are correct and show Short date as: M/d/yyyy and the example shows 12/26/2019.

It appears that email notifications do not follow the same formats.

I was going to complain about the same problem in the partner portal, but I just logged in and it looks like they changed to DD MMM YYYY format where MMM is spelled out: 02 Apr 2019 which I suppose is fine as us humans take the letters as a clue to the days are first.

TLDR: is there anything to do about the email system sending date formats that differ from the 3cx console settings?

Nope, but if the biggest issue is missing renewals, I suggest you setup your own email reminder/tracking system for their renewals so you can send your own emails with correctly formatted dates.

If they paid for us to track that like we track SSL, domain, other software, etc... renewals then sure.

Im never going to be able to fix the client problem for clients that are simply hourly with our company and the admin has no desire to run the IT side of things because they are busy running their business.... Sure it sucks but those type clients are (still) a decent size of the pie for us....

Still, the point of this is to illustrate an area where the locale and date settings doesnt carry over as my date format issue is different than the typical one seen on the forums.

If they are buying the license from you then in essence you are getting paid to track them. If you are doing IT then I assume you are using a documentation platform that likely has that capability. Not sure how you are billing your customers but most billing systems have a recurring invoice capability that could suffice in a pinch. I understand what you are asking for and it's a reasonable request but as I said, there's no way to change that currently so I think setting up your own reminders is better than having licenses lapse. Those 'break-fix' customers you refer to are often the biggest pain, and will definitely blame you for letting the license lapse anyways so it's the lesser of two evils.

While not to discount your previous statement that we should be tracking them, or if we track them, or who we track them for, the real goal of this post is to gain some visibility to a small coding oversight that can be implemented in future updates.

Should we be tracking licenses? yes. should 3cx email notifications time format match in all areas of the software? yes. Should dogs live as long as humans? yes. Some answers are plain as day which is why I expect (hope) 3cx to become a well polished product eventually (TM).
