Hi there,

Our organization has recently implemented Azure 2FA for all our accounts. However, as a result of this the email settings used for Welcome emails, voicemails in email attachments, notifications etc has unfortunately broke, as it uses an O365 account that had 2FA enabled for it.

Inside of 3CX's admin portal, under Settings > Email, the options for the O365 are very straight forward. Simply email & password, and that's all I get. Is there no way to suppport using a 2FA-enabled account for this process, just curious?

Thanks

Did you try using an app password for the account?

Actually I narrowed the issue a little further. The issue is actually because 3cx uses SMTP as it's protocol. Azure Security Defaults block this as it is a "legacy authentication" method.

So I suppose I will need to granularly exempt this user from the legacy authentication restriction

Indeed, this will use SMTP so if you do not allow it it will fail.

It's good to keep a separate SMTP account for this purpose only while managing the rest of your users as you wish.

Alternatively, you can also use the 3CX SMTP account instead of a custom one.
