3CX Fax Server Options

Can anyone recommend a best practice for installing 3CX as a fax server? I would like to pick a Gateway that allows DID numbers to be forward to a "fax server" which would then associate the DID with an email, etc. Should I be using an external Fax Server? How would the 3CX pass the DID to the fax server? Or can the 3CX be the fax server? If you have some successful configurations and equipment recommendations that work well with 3CX please share! 3CX fax server works only with VoIP providers supporting T.38 protocol (Fax-over-IP), not with gateways, etc.
