Hi,
Using 3CX 15.5 (latest) with FlowRoute.
Questions:
  • Outgoing calls show as "No Caller ID" on recipient's phone. How can I change them to show the 3CX user's number (or, even better, their name or the company name)?
  • Incoming calls show up on 3CX phone as, say, "Wireless caller" with the caller's number appearing below? Is it possible to show the outside party's phone number or name instead of "wireless caller" and similar?
Current 3CX > SIP Trunk > Flowroute > Outbound Parameters
  • From: Display Name > "OutboundCallerID" taken from extension settings
  • From: User Part > "OriginatorCallerID"
  • From: Host part > "GWHostPort"
Curret 3CX > SIP Trunk > FlowRoute > Inbonud Parameters
  • "CalledNum" > To : User Part
  • "CallerName" > From: Display Name
  • "CallerNum" > From: User Part
Thank you.

It depends. there are a number of outbound settings, and each provider can require that they be different to correctly display your caller ID, or DID number. This also requires that your provider allows you to do this. Did you datafill an Outside number to be displayed against the extension(s)?

It says Wireless Caller because that is what came back from a database query, and what your provider sends. While you can't change that, you can put the number, and a name, in the 3CX company directory. That will replace any name sent from the provider. Of course, this will only work for callers you already know.

Most mobile customer calls will not send a name, unless (perhaps) your provider, and that of the originating mobile caller are one and the same (share the same customer database). Even then, it only works if the caller has permitted their name to be displayed. Incoming Caller ID usually requires an additional charge for a database look-up. the name that is provided is only as good as the database accessed.

I am on Flowroute without issue.
I had to pay(?) and setup my outgoing caller id name to show up as the name I wanted. You can not send a name from 3cx itself. (Atleast in the US)
The number showed up out of the box.

I did however, make a change at one point to help with forwarded calls. Which is looks like you have done.
Trunk - Outbound Parameters: From : Display Name = "Outbound caller id taken from the extension settings" - and ensure you have a number in the extensions outbound caller id.

By inbound is a little different on one field.

Thank you. On the outbound, is there a setting that defaults to the main DID when there is no number in the extension's Outbound Caller ID field?

The outbound settings used currently is best... you will have to go in and set the default for each one- even if same as main number.
And unfortunately, is not available for bulk update.

Sounds good. Doing that. Funny thing, I can enter any number in there, even numbers I don't own or haven't ported yet.

With Flowroute - yes. Just be sure to be courteous and abide by any local laws.

Of course. Thank you for your help.

Please note that the default PBX behaviour is to send the main trunk number when no outbound caller ID is set under extension settings.
