3CX for Apartment Complex

I need to specify a PBX system for a 9 unit apartment complex that also has a Security Post.

The apartment complex also has a common entry point protected by an access point system that would ring in the said apartment. Opening of the main entry point to the complex can be triggered from within the apartment.
Each apartment will have around 6-8 phone locations.

Would 3CX work for this situation. Has anybody setup something like this before?

If the security system simply responds to DTMF dialing then 3CX should work - worst case, you may need an analog gateway to do the trick. Really depends on the security system and its requirements

By security Post I actually meant a guard station not a security system, so in essence the guard station would just be another extension.

What is the physical network topology going to look like?

This is actually a very basic set-up. As this would have to be a second phone for each apartment (I assume you would be using customer provided analogue sets), you would require a second phone pair to each unit, assuming that they also have a PSTN phone. these pairs would have to go to a location where the ATA(s) and/or the 3CX server would be located. You would require an ATA, or several, with enough FXS ports to service the lines. Price per port drops as you move to higher port devices. As 3CX is meant for office use, the Apartments could call each other, however that can be blocked, if desired, though the use of a dialplan within the ATA. Some ATA's have this feature , some do not so check, if this is important. If the apartment is being called from an entry-phone type device , there are a number that make use of SIP, or through an ATA are VoIP compatible. If the front door "connection" is to a guard, then they would simply require an ATA as well.
