3cx - hosted - soft phones only

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around sip trunking. Suppose I have a 3cx hosted system with a sip trunk. The sip trunk is on my internet connection coming into my office. So, how do soft phones connect to the sip trunk? Do the soft phones point to my sip connection? Is it correct to say the sip trunk goes through my internet connection?

The softphone/app/web client connect to the 3CX server. The 3CX server connects via the trunk to your SIP provider. The SIP provider connects to the call to the callee/other end.

If your server is hosted outside your office, the SIP trunk does not connect to your office.

Ok. How about if I add 50 desk phones to the mix but I still want my server hosted outside my office. And my SIP trunk does not connect to my office either. I can still do this, all I need is one "router phone" or an SBC?

its recommended up to 10 phones per phone sbc.

Hello @jbrown93,
As mentioned by @kieferschild you can connect the IP phones behind an SBC or Router phone.
There is no limitation on how many Router phones you use and it is recommended to have behind a Router Phone of up to 10 phones.
