3CX on prem & SBC

Hello,

We are looking to migrate several of our locations running 3CX v16 on-prem to the hosted running of course v18. For testing v18 and the SBC is it possible to run the SBC on the same network without affecting the current on-prem 3CX? SIP provider is Flowroute. Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can have as many SBCs as you like, they'll register with the 3CX of your cloud one. You may find that this SBC picks up some multicasts but it wont affect your on prem

You might have a conflict with ports 5090 and 5001, as both the SBC, and the PBX make use of those.

I assume that they are already forwarded to the PBX.

You may have to forward those to the SBC and see if it affects the PBX at the same location. It will depend on what services it is using.

yeah that was my thinking as I believe the firewall rules would cause issues between the SBC and the On Prem.

You should be fine, as the SBC does not require any firewall NAT rules as traffic is outbound only.

The SBC doesn't normally require forwarding, but, the existing PBX does, and it's those rules that may prevent the SBC from operating properly. You will just have to try it out, and see what happens.
Perhaps the ISP will issue a temporary public IP, for that location, that can be used until after the transition to the SBC.

Ports should actually not be an issue, for the PBX 5090 and 5001 are source ports, for the SBC they are destination ports so traffic towards those ports would never need to go to the SBC and nothing would happen even if it did. Provided there is nothing particular about the network they both reside on and port forwarding has been configured for the PBX correctly you should have no problems. Only anything using multicast could potentially interfere.
