Hi

As part of our disaster recovery effort, we want to be able to configure a second account into our phones and to do so we need to be able to specify a "constant" into the phone templates. So for example if we use variables to specify the IP address/port, account id and password, we would want to be able to specify within the template a second account. But there does not seem to be a way to add custom variables that are substituted in the template. If we coudl do this we could set up the same accounts onto a second instance of 3CX and use that to help us deal with inbound calls int eh event of 3CX failure or failure of the SIP trunk into the main 3CX server etc.

Does anyone have any ideas how we could do this? I don't want to hard code an IP address or account detail into the template.. The only other way I see to do this is to monitor the cfg files using a scripting language and to the substitution ourselves..

Thanks
Millsey

Hi there,
That's correct it's not possible to add templates variables, please post this as a feature request on 3CX Ideas : http://www.3cx.com/ideas
Other than that one shall hardcode the second identity in custom template (not supported) or configure them manually from phone web interface.
