3CX Server with dual ISP failover.

Good day Everyone.

I would like to ask if anyone has ever set up a 3CX server on-premises with 2 internet links. How do you get the SIP trunk to behave the same way when you have failed over to the other internet provider



This is my setup. I have a Mikrotik router with 2 internet links set up with failover. I have set the public IP address of the 3CX server to use the IP of ISP1. When ISP 1 fails, ISP2 takes over. When this happens I notice there are problems with calls not ending from the SIP provider but the SIP trunk remains registered and we can make and receive calls. When the internet on ISP1 returns router failovers to ISP1. When this happens the SIP trunk becomes unregistered and ofcourse the calls fail. It is only when I reboot the router that the SIP trunk registers when we ar back to ISP1.

I know the problem is with the SIP headers but I would want to know if anyone has been able to achieve a setup like this.

When the isp fails you need to get the router to drop / terminate all open internet links / sessions so they fail over to the other link

I will look to see how I can do this without having to reboot the router. Thank you for your comment. I will certainly try this out.

I am guessing you already know this for you setup to work at all but just mentioning it for anyone else reading this. 3CX needs to be in Dynamic IP mode so it can detect the public IP change when the failover occurs and reregister from the new IP to the provider.

Yes, I do know that but I had a similar issue when I set the IP to dynamic. I will do as @Saqqara suggested and as well set the IP detection to dynamic.
