Say goodbye to per - user pricing and bundle rip-offs.

Small businesses worldwide are faced with inflated communications costs. Not because of per call tariffs - but per user platform costs. Communications platforms - enabling team working and customer interaction - can easily be $20 per user, including those extensions you har...

Some questions:
Where is the 3cx hosted?
Is there a full console access?
Can the configuration of an existing provider installation be overtaken fully?

Hi Fredy,

3CX SMB is hosted depending on where you are based as a customer. For Switzerland, its hosted in Germany.

What do you mean full console access? You do not have access to the system, only to the functions in the admin section. You can see them by starting a trial.

Not sure what you mean by existing provider installation. If you are talking about a VoIP Provider - not all VoIP providers are supported, only the ones listed. Peoplefone is supported on the SMB platform.

This is not suitable for African market, as most customers are having it's own SIP provider that is not in the list of available SIP trunks.

If I switch to the SMB free plan will I still be able to use IP phones? I don't see any obvious limitations and there are phones in the promo picture but I seem to remember the V18 free plan had some petty restrictions like no BLF support?

After the latest round of firewall issues and Windows breaking stuff I'm seeing the appeal of the cloud.

3 Deskphones only.

Nice proposition! The only negative is the provider lockin. Can't use it for that reason.
Rather pay something (extra) and choose my own providers.

Is there a comparison matrix for the different 3CX versions/options to be able to work out which one to go for i.e. what each one allows/does/includes/etc. ?

The SBC is a thing that the customer needs running at a remote site?...and some models of "router phones" can serve as SBC?
but with a cloud setup all sites are remote sites so at least one SBC or router phone is required?

Hi @UKSteve
I have just sent a you a PM with my contact details and I'll be happy to have a chat with you regarding the 3CX portfolio and the options available to you.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Kind regards,

Hi Oliver,
The SBC's are needed for provisioning IP Phones outside of your local network. For larger networks with more than 10 phones, it's better to install a dedicated 3CX SBC service. If your network has less than 10 phones, we recommend using an IP phone that is SBC capable, referred to as a router phone. The following phones can be used as router phones:
We also have an SBC guide to walk you through the setup!

I have perhaps an odd question but lets say I have a present server hosted at one of the various VM hosts that we make use of, the 3CX license is Enterprise Annual. What would happen if I swapped the license out to SMB? Its my understanding that SMB licenses are meant for if you're hosting on 3CX's servers itself isn't it?

@VernonShaw the Enterprise Annual license and SMB are too different products and cannot be swapped without a complete reinstall. At the moment we do not have a migration tool to assist with this, but hope to have one in a future release. The SMB is a shared instance (Multi-tenant) product that is hosted in our servers. The Enterprise Annual edition is a dedicated instance that can be deployed on-premise, self-hosted or in our Hosting environment.

Hi Nick
More details to my questions:
Actually, we own a 3cx Pro license (perpetual) with 8 channels and pay maintenance any year.
Our server is hosted at Peoplefone in Switzerland (Linux machine) - we pay for the hosting.
Further we two single phone numbers and a block with 10 numbers we pay for (provided by Peoplefone).
Further, we have 3 SIP trunks in place (provided by Peoplefone).
I have console access to the 3cx and do the administration.
So.. we have a fully configured productive working environment at peoplefone.
1.) Can the existing configuration be overtaken 1:1 (without the need for a new configuration)?
2.) Would I be able to configure the SMB V20 myself (e.g. add a new phone / user / extension / trunk)?
3.) Is there a support - at least for the migration?
4.) What about our 3cx Pro license (we don't would need it anymore and also don't have to pay maintenance)?
5.) How to take over the actual phone numbers and trunks (at least we have to take over the phone numbers?
Thanks for a further feedback.
Regards from Switzerland
Fredy
